Can’t wait to watch it! I’ve spoken about them before, I love them as a couple and I really think they look beautiful together.
Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo said “I do,” on Friday, his rep confirms to Us Weekly.
The Sing-Off host, 37, and Minnillo, 30, exchanged their vows at the top of a cliff overlooking the ocean on Necker Island. They first arrived to the island on Tuesday via a private jet. The wedding was extremely small and close family only.
They allowed reality cameras to document their big day as a part of a TLC wedding special.
“We kind of wrestled with that for a while, for obvious reasons,” Lachey told reporters during his bachelor party earlier this month. (He famously allowed MTV’s cameras to document his first wedding — and the honeymoon phase — with Jessica Simpson.) “Having done reality TV in the past, I didn’t necessarily want to jump right back into it without having thought it through to great length, and we did.”
“[Vanessa and my wedding is] for us, for the people in our lives who are close to us and mean a lot to us,” he said. “That’s the way we wanted it, and I’m happy we’re able to do it that way.”
In Nov. 2010, Lachey proposed to Minnillo in what he called his “greatest romantic gesture ever.” The couple dated for four years prior to their engagement.
But despite their relaxed engagement, Lachey definitely has babies on the brain. He told Parade Magazine that “the pressure is on” to have kids with Minnillo. “I’d like to be a dad sooner rather than later,” he admitted. “I’m getting up there! I’ve gotta catch up with my brother. [Drew’s] got two and I’ve got zero!
And choosing the location came just as easily for the couple.
“We love to travel and we love Necker Island,” Lachey, 37, tells PEOPLE. “We’ve vacationed there multiple times, and when we got engaged, we both immediately thought of the island as the perfect place to have our wedding.”
Adds Minnillo, 30: “We were on a boat, on vacation, passing the island and we both looked at each other and he said, ‘Yes!’ I was so glad he said what I was thinking. Nick saw it in my eyes.”
The 74-acre island was the picture perfect backdrop for their intimate nuptials, which were filmed for a TLC special.
“We used a lot of what the island had,” says Minnillo. “It was timeless, beautiful and romantic.”
Vanessa Minnillo donned Monique Lhuillier to say “I do” to Nick Lachey at their Friday wedding — and Us Weekly has the very first snaps of the couple’s nuptials, which took place in a stunning setting: atop a cliff overlooking the ocean on Necker Island.
It was tiny, family-only affair for Wipe Out hostess Minnillo, 30, and The Sing Off host Lachey, 37, who arrived on the tropical paradise via private jet last Tuesday.
Fans will get to see the uber-romantic days for themselves on an upcoming TLC wedding special. (See more pics of their incredible wedding at Bauer-Griffin’s blog.)
“[Our wedding is] for us, for the people in our lives who are close to us and mean a lot to us,” Lachey said recently “That’s the way we wanted it, and I’m happy we’re able to do it that way.”
Added Lachey, whose first wedding (and the honeymoon phase) to Jessica Simpson was filmed for MTV: “Having done reality TV in the past, I didn’t necessarily want to jump right back into it without having thought it through to great length, and we did.
Their intimate wedding on Sir Richard Branson’s private Necker Island was every bit as exotic asNick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo were going for, but when it came to their wedding bands, the couple of five years wanted to stick to tradition. So they returned to New York jeweler David Bader, of Bader and Garrin, who designed Minnillo’s Asscher-cut engagement ring. “Vanessa was definitely looking for a ring to match her engagement ring,” Bader tells PEOPLE exclusively of the the Wipeout host’s platinum eternity band of Asscher-cut diamonds. As for Lachey, “I wanted something huskier and thicker,” the Sing-Off host says of his platinum band, which includes 24 square diamonds to complement his wife’s ring, plus a heartfelt message inscribed inside. “They both wanted a substantial looking ring with diamonds, but Nick wanted his to be masculine at the same time,” explains Bader. The final verdict? The couple couldn’t have been happier with their custom bands, and Bader says “they are two extremely easy people to work with. It was such a pleasure.”
