This Angel is getting a little too light for her wings.
Victoria’s Secret model Candice Swanepoel has been turning heads recently—but not for her blond locks or voluptuous bod. This beauty’s been looking alarmingly thin lately and hasn’t been filling out those lacy underthings so well.
It was markedly apparent on Wednesday, when the once curvy South African hottie revealed her newly skeletal frame at an L.A. fashion shoot at the Mondrian Hotel wearing tiger print bottoms and a black bra. Just two months ago, a much healthier Swanepoel posed as the face of the lingerie house’s Valentine’s Day campaign. Her weight loss since has been dramatic.
And now, a fashion insider close to the Victoria’s Secret models tells us that Swanepoel’s future with the company is in jeopardy.
When South African stunner Candice Swanepoel made an appearance Wednesday in Los Angeles to model the new line of swimwear by Victoria’s Secret, her slight figure caused a major stir.
Overnight, buzz cropped up about Swanepoel’s seemingly shocking weight loss, given that she appeared thinner in L.A. than she had in photos taken only months earlier. HollywoodLife.com went so far as to call her “scarily, skeletally, stick-thin” and CBSNews.com called her “startlingly slim.”
Swanepoel spoke with Hollyscoop.com at a Victoria’s Secret event on Wednesday and told them what keeps her thin. “My diet. Stress and a lot of traveling kind of deals with that for me,” she said. “I workout a lot, I box. I’m obsessed with it. It helps a lot with traveling to be strong and carry on with everything.”
During New York Fashion Week in November, Swanepoel, 22, told ABCNews.com that she was having trouble keeping weight on. “Actually, this year my problem has been more putting the weight on and getting muscle on because it’s been really busy,” she said. “I’ve been traveling around like crazy. I get skinnier if I’m very busy.”
“I am healthy and happy,” Swanepoel tells PEOPLE. “I’m heartened to know how much everyone cares about me, but in this case, everything is normal and good.”
I think all these chicks are skinny, i find it funny that the other two models next to her are considered curvy. curvy to me is a beautiful body like beyonce or christina aguilara. to me, curvy is beautiful and is womanly, skinny is not. but that is what victoria secret is known to have, extremely skinny girls. so why is everyone surprised with this one? if i was a company like victoria secrets that is obviously targeted for women, i would have different models pose their line with different bodies and sizes for all the real woman. if i am spending $55-$95 on a bra and a $120 on a bathing suit i would like to see women like me pose for the company and not be sold with “skinny” messages.
