Pierre Balmain

Pierre Balmain founded his exquisite namesake Parisian fashion house in 1945, dressing the likes of Ava Gardner and Brigitte Bardot. After his death in 1982, a slew of designers took the helm including Oscar de la Renta, and now it’s the turn of elegant French designer Christophe Decarnin. Bringing a distinctly modern vibe to the label, the fashion pack are hankering after his crystal-embellished drummer boy jackets, super-skinny acid wash denim and studded high-waisted mini skirts.” – Text from my favorite fashion site www.net-a-porter.com

If it’s one label we will continue to see a lot of this summer, it’s definitely Balmain. Since it’s Fall 2008 collection, the 80s inspired rocker-glam designs have been spotted all over Hollywood, mostly on favorites Rihanna and Beyonce.

This collection is far from cheap fashionistas – Beyonce above wore Balmain’s Crystal-embellished canvas jacket priced at…drum roll please…$11,410! Rihanna wore a Military style denim jacket from the same Summer/Spring 2009 collection priced at $5,075.

The other picture on the side of Beyonce – I know, her again? but who else would spend crazy amount of money on just a jacket and vest?! – she is wearing a Balmain vest and I love, love it! I love the white tank top with jeans shorts look. I just don’t think her heels go with the casual outfit. She should’ve worn gladiator flats or gladiator heels it would have blended with the texture and design of the vest.

It is crazy expensive! But the designs are beautifully created! The other side picture is vintage, its from the 1961 gown collection.
